Peepsock Press, LLC was founded in 2003 by Doug Nufer.  (It received its name from the small Peepsock Creek that meandered through the woods where Doug grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.)  Peepsock Press began as an assisted publication service designed to help unpublished authors get their works printed. It has expanded to publish tangram -themed products via NuFun Games.

Our Story

A cottage industry

Peepsock Press is very much a cottage industry.  It was founding in 2003 when Doug published his first novel.  Since then, there have been several short stories, a couple more novels, and a lot of sweat equity.

In 2011, Doug expanded his focus on tangram-related items.  As a play on his last name and the act of finding “new fun” things to work on, he formed a division of Peepsock Press called “NuFun Games” to which he assigns his tangram games, packs, posters and such.  The puzzle books and other books still find their home in Peepsock Press, within which NuFun Games also fits.

Pretty much everything is by Doug.  Ideas come from many sources and experiences, but come to life in his home.  They then get published via various means.

If anything looks homemade, it’s because it is.  Even the Tangram Fury game was assembled at home with the help of family and friends.  (Doug and his wife hand-stickered 1,000 8-sided dice with color stickers for the game.)

If anything looks professionally made, well, thank you!  Doug did hire a former co-worker to design the main game and packs, and has applied those designs to the books, additional packs and other items.

Services

Doug still provides tips and information to authors and creators have something they want to bring to life and need some advice or suggestions.

Occasionally, Doug learns that someone has taken tangrams that he has designed and used them on their site or in their book or products.  This isn’t cool.  Please at least ask and give proper acknowledgement before doing this.  Doug has spent literally 1000s of hours working to produce these designs and products.  When specifically asked, Doug has given permission to both schools and churches to use free of charge.  Among other things, it is nice to know the work is appreciated and being used to help others learn.

Online Presence

The original website was designed by a former co-worker and friend.  It included various elements.  Doug learned on-the-fly how to edit HTML and create new pages and material.

Unfortunately, the world quickly moved beyond HTML and Doug’s site fell behind the times.

In recent months, Doug’s son-in-law revamped the site and introduced it to widgets and such.  Doug is currently trying to learn to edit them now, with small successes and much persistence.  Much more needs to be done, but it’s coming.

Over the years, Doug has designed 1600+ tangram puzzles.  Many have been included in tangram packs that he created to honor celebrities who attended comic cons that he took his children to.  This has created priceless memories with the family as they’ve literally met 100s of celebrities with whom they’ve had fun interactions.  His kids have learned to step forward and meet new people in a polite way and realize that if they dream it, and take the right steps, great things can happen.

Most recently Doug has been commissioned to participate in the 50th anniversary commemoration of the movie Jaws, on Martha’s Vineyard.  It was an honor and rare opportunity to design new tangrams and a new tangram pack for the MV Museum!
